Swiss Colony 5.5lb Honey Glazed Spiral Sliced Ham Review
If there is one food that I could eat every day it would be spiral cut ham! There is nothing more delicious than a tender, moist, and flavorful ham! We recently had the opportunity to work with one of our favorite gourmet food companies to review one of their 5.5 lb Honey Glazed Spiral Ham gourmet meats. You may remember that we had the pleasure of reviewing their 82 Piece All-Time Favorites Food Gift Sampler last Christmas, so this was an extra special treat to work with the folks at Swiss Colony again.
Our ham arrived in an iconic red and white Swiss Colony box partially frozen, which was ideal. The shipping time was very quick for us which is always a great thing when perishables come into play. Inside, I found a red foiled and netted Swiss Colony 5.5lb Honey Glazed Spiral Sliced Ham. I decided that I wanted to make it for dinner the following week so I placed it in the freezer until then.
To defrost my ham, I put it in the fridge 36 hours before I was ready to warm it up. The beauty of this Swiss Colony ham is that it is fully cooked, and glazed in delicious honey glaze. To heat it, I place it in my Pyrex pan and wrapped it with aluminum foil. I cooked it at 350 for 30 minutes to warm it up, and get the chill out. That seemed to be a good time for me because nothing burned, and the ham retained it’s moisture perfectly.
When it came time to eat our ham, the spiral slices delicately fell off the bone when cut. I really loved how easy it was to remove them, and serve them! I didn’t have to fuss with any messy or sticky glazes, and my pan easily washed clean.
The taste of our Swiss Colony 5.5lb Honey Glazed Spiral Sliced Ham was so incredibly delicious that I would certainly order another. The key is to not over heat it, and burn it. By baking it at a lower temp to heat it throughout, there is little risk for drying it out. They glaze was the perfect amount of sweet and smoky too! My little ones ate all their portions and wanted more! We are a family of 2 adults and three kids and this provided us with 3 total meals! You really do get a ton of ham for the low price of $59.99!
