Garden Goddess: Protecting Your Skin from the Sun’s Harmful Rays Naturally!
Having two skin cancer scares in my family this year has prompted me to be extra cautious when it comes to skin protection. I recently have removed large moles from my neck, and back, and have been very diligent about applying sunscreen. As a mom it is my job to protect not only myself, but my family as well. My only concern is what exact chemicals I am slathering on my skin. That alarming thought really got me thinking, and searching for natural sunscreens.
A Little about Garden Goddess:
When the opportunity to review a product from Garden Goddess presented itself I was thrilled. I had never even known natural sunscreens existed, but I am glad I found out! Garden Goddess was founded in 2004 by Nova Convington a mother, and entrepreneur. Her daughter Paige was allergic to chemicals in traditional bath products. This motivated Nora to develop a line of all natural body care products including sunscreen.
In 2009, Goddess Garden launched a line of organic Sunscreen that protect and nourish without harsh sunscreen chemicals. This long-lasting SPF 30 sunscreen is made with sheer minerals that reflect 97% of the sun’s harmful UV rays.Goddess Garden’s line of organic sun care products is water resistant,non-greasy, absorbs quickly and nourishes sensitive skin with the highest percentage of organic ingredients available in a sunscreen—over 92 percent!
I had the opportunity to select which type of product I wanted to review. I have been really into the convenience of spray suncreen so I decided to go with the Sunny Kids Organic Sunscreen Continuous Spray in SPF 30. This product retails for $21.99, and boasts a convenient, brightly colored 6 oz bottle with any easy to use spray nozzle.
My 3 year old has a gluten intolerance so it was amazing to have a product that is gluten-free. She has been breaking out from the other brand I was using on her, and I couldn’t figure out why. When I applied the all natural, broad spectrum, Sunny Kids Organic Sunscreen Continuous Spray on my daughter, I did not notice any rashes, or raised spots. I also noticed that she did not burn while at a sunny cookout!
Garden Goddess‘ Sunny Kids Organic Sunscreen sprays on white in some spots (even after shaken); I found that it needed to be rubbed in further. I don’t consider that to be a problem because I usually have to rub in my children’s suncreens anyhow. The product smell was very light, and fresh, and I did not find it to be greasy at all! This is important to me because an overly greasy sunscreen is no fun!
